My Tekken 6 Wish-list (Revisted) [UPDATE]

Back on July 28, 2009, I posted a list of things that I would have liked to see within the console version of Tekken 6.  This blog entry will revisit that list and see which of these Namco Bandai added into the game.

My original post is available here:
My Tekken 6 Wish-list

– Special Edition for PS3 without the arcade stick. – SORT OF
The U.S. version of Tekken 6 didn’t receive a special edition bundle without the arcade stick, but Europe did.

– Discount if purchasing both PS3 and PSP versions at the same time, or maybe bundle both together. – NO
I added this to the list, assuming that the PS3 and PSP version of Tekken 6 will be released on the same day.  But, the PSP version has been released a month later.  There is no discount or special bundle when purchasing the PSP version.

– Connectivity between PSP and PS3 versions. – NO
The PSP version of Tekken 6 is now available, ans their is no functionality with the PS3 version.

– No console exclusive characters. – YES!
I’m glad that Namco Bandai decided not to add console exclusive characters, like they did with previous Soul Calibur games.

– Don’t make gamers pay for content already on the disc. – DON’T KNOW
According to Katsuhiro Harada, all DLC for Tekken 6 will be free.  We’ll have to see if they make the Yoshimitsu Cardboard Tube Samurai DLC available for free for those who didn’t pre-order and who have non-U.S. versions of the game.

– Practice mode options from Soul Calibur 4: “Command Playback” and “Free Style Settings”. – NOT REALLY
Tekken 6 has added a few new features for the practice mode (that don’t really work as desired), and there are still a few features available within Soul Calibur 4 that aren’t available within Tekken 6.  One big negative is that they have removed one very important feature: command capture.  For many of the Tekken games and many other fighting games, you have the ability to record your commands and play them back, which will help in figuring out how to punish an attack.  There has been word that this might be patched into the game in a future update.

– Match Replay saves and YouTube upload integration (for PS3) – SORT OF
Tekken 6 has the ability to save match replays, but ONLY for Versus mode and Online Ranked Matches.  There is no option to export the video into a video format or to upload to YouTube.

– XMB music accessibility (for PS3) – YES!
I don’t have an Xbox 360, but from what I hear, that ability to play your own music is built into the system and is available for every game.  Sony provides the tools for this feature on the PS3, but requires that the developer implements this into the game.  Namco Bandai is one of the few developers that have decided to support this feature, as this is available within Tekken 6.

– XMB in-game screenshot save feature like in Noby Noby Boy (for PS3) – YES!
Sony provides the tools for this feature on the PS3, but requires that the developer implements this into the game.  Namco Bandai is one of the few developers that have decided to support this feature, as this is available within Tekken 6.

– A Tournament Mode – NO
Nope, no tournament mode.  This is “The King of Iron First Tournament“, so some type of tournament mode would make sense.  Soul Calibur 3 has this mode for both single player  and up to 8 human players, so why not have something like this for Tekken 6 (or even Soul Calibur 4)?

– Create a fighter- NO
Previously, it was announced that Tekken 6 would offer character creation, but this must have been a mis-translation or misunderstanding because this feature is not available.  I don’t really care that it’s not available, but it would have been a nice feature.  Personally, I liked this feature in Soul Calibur 4, although many tournament participants are against this feature.

– Tag Mode – NO
There is no tag feature available within Tekken 6, but I really wasn’t expecting one.  Now that Tekken 6 has been released, I would much rather see a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 released before Tekken 7.

Later,
Wild Man X
